Louisiana is now a “DIRECT ACCESS” state. In June, 2016, Louisiana passed legislation allowing licensed physical therapists to evaluate and treat patients without seeing a physician first. As a “Direct Access” patient, you do not need a prescription from your physician to receive out-patient physical therapy. You can start receiving physical therapy care today!
As a “DIRECT ACCESS” provider, Accelerated Rehab and Sports Medicine is fully licensed and capable of evaluating your musculoskeletal and neuromuscular ailments without physician referral. Our therapists have extensive training and over 35 years of combined clinical experience in evaluation, differential diagnosis, and treatment of multitudes of conditions. We are well trained to look at the body as a whole and identify any potential “yellow or red flags” that may warrant a referral to a physician or other healthcare professional. With your permission, we typically send your PT Evaluation to your primary care physician so that they are well informed of your condition. We pledge to communicate and work closely with them so that your care can be comprehensive and effective.
